After enjoying life in balance over many Christmas & New Year social events, most of us are now trying to settle back into the daily grind & with that comes the "lose weight" new year resolutions or hitting the "reset" button as some like to call it.

Here are our top 10 tips to reinjecting that enthusiasm back into your health & fitness routines:

1. First things first... forget what has been! You enjoyed yourself over the Christmas break & indulged in some yummy food (that's what we train for!), now it's time to let it go & move on. Stop worrying about the scales, make today a fresh new start for re-commencing good habits.

2. Even if you are still on holidays, get back into your usual exercise & eating habits. Book back into your PT sessions with your Trainer & come along to a group class that you wouldn't normally be able to attend due to work commitments. Workout done ️ Your body will feel so much better after that first workout.

3. Exercise early in the day, the early bird catches the worm! Then it's out of the way!

If you are still on holidays, organise an early walk/run or exercise session outdoors with a friend & then go & enjoy a coffee or breakfast.

4. Track your food.  

Sounds simple, but who else struggles to resist the fridge calling when you are not back into your normal routine?! If this is you, tracking your food gives you a visual indication of how you have eaten throughout the day & will encourage you to stick to your better eating patterns.

5. Make a new food plan to keep your food interesting & enjoyable!

Variety is the spice of life & flexibility is key for establishing long-term food habits.

6. Empty your fridge & cupboards of any leftover food that is not going to nourish you! Remove the temptation.

7. Plan & prepare your food. That way you will not be left hungry or tempted to make poorer nutritional choices if you are time poor or busy. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

8. Instead of focusing on eating nothing but salad, make your nutrition goals around food you enjoy while hitting your macros. That way you will enjoy your food & feel satisfied.

9. Set some specific goals you would like to achieve.

It could be losing 5kgs that you gained over Christmas, completing a specific running event or even just fitting back into a certain clothing size. Whatever it may be, this will be the key to keeping you motivated so make sure it means something to you.

10. And finally be REALISTIC!

Resolutions are hard to keep when they are too extreme & most people tend to fall off the wagon quickly.

Keep your goals rational & achievable & set goals that will likely embed good habits in the years to come. 

Make 2017 your best year yet!
