I have been overweight for a lot of my adult life. I hated being weighed so I rarely weighed myself. My heart sank when I saw my weight had gone up even further. My blood pressure was a huge problem and had been for a long time (20+ years), and was now skyrocketing. My cholesterol was high. My hips knees and feet were so painful. But the worst thing was my mindset. I was horrified when I really looked at myself in the mirror. I hated what I saw and realised I had been in denial for many, many years.
Not long after that realisation hit, I heard about Pete Evans and the Paleo lifestyle.I googled, and liked the sound of it. I was never a bad food eater, I just ate too much. It sounded like it could be ok for me so I tried it. The weight started moving and so did I. I was walking 20 minutes every other day. The weight kept going, and again so did I, walking everyday working up to 30 minutes and so on and so on. I now walk an hour everyday (7km).
After losing about 20kg my weight started to plateau. So I started to control my portion sizes, and once again moving more and more. Then my good friend Beth started at Vision Bangor for her daughter's wedding and I saw the results. I too wanted to look that good. So after losing 40kg off I went to Vision Bangor. I hoped to lose another 10kgs. Now here I am; I have lost another 20kgs for a total 60kgs.
The motivation that I have received from my personal trainer has been a wonderful experience and has kept me on track. I feel amazing! My blood pressure is normal, no more medication for that! My hips, knees and feet are feeling great. I can now stand all day and have no pain. My outlook on life has changed for the better. I have a second chance at growing old now, and a new wardrobe, which has been so much fun. My family are very proud of me.
