Physical activity is vital for the younger generations development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle. Physical activity not only provides health benefits, it provides learning experiences that link to the younger generations interests, abilities and identity.  Kids who are physically fit can also sleep better as well as being able to handle physical and emotional challenges better which helps in areas such as studying for a test, coping with stress and being more resilient.

Everyone can benefit from regular exercise! Kids who are active will:

  • Have stronger muscles and bones
  • Be less likely to become overweight
  • Decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels
  • Improves posture
  • Improves balance coordination and strength
  • Improves concentration and thinking strength
  • Have an overall better outlook on life

The body is made for moving! The younger generation gets exercise every day without thinking about such as, Physical Exercise at school, during recess or lunch, at dance class or soccer practice, while riding bikes, or when playing tag. This counts as Physical exercise but just how much exercise should the younger generation get? Kids should exercise for one hour or more every day. This doesn't have to be all in one go, it can be spread out throughout the day. You could stretch in the morning (flexibility), ride your bike to school (aerobic) and walk with your family after dinner.

So get up and move! Don't sit still for more than an hour at a time. After an hour get up and move for 10 mins. Your body will thank you.
