Winter Motivation*

Friday, 17 March 2017, By Holly Campbell

Winter can be the hardest time of the year to stay motivated towards your health and fitness goals. Don't fall into 'the Winter trap' and regret your choices due to the bad weather. Here are some tips to keep you motivated during the winter to stay on track to your health and fitness goals.

Prepare your clothes for the morning

Having your gym clothes simply set out beside your bed can be a very easy motivational tool to get you out of bed. Make sure you lay your clothes out where you'll see them as soon as you open your eyes. Better yet, why not put your alarm clock right next to your gym clothes so you are forced to get out of bed to turn your alarm off?

Studio access

A lot of people use "it was raining" as an excuse to not do any form of physical activity outside. We have small, friendly studios with Trainers that love to see you come in and take advantage of the cardio/weights equipment or even join in on one of the group classes. Surrounding yourself with positive energy and people who want to help you achieve your goal is a great way to keep you on track.

Write your goal out

Writing your goal out daily is a great way to keep it at the front of your mind. Reminding yourself of your goal and your WHY, is a great reason to get out of bed on these cold winter mornings. Create that picture in your head of how you think you'll feel and look when you achieve your goal and go for it. Keep your mind positive, every step counts!

Keep food interesting

For me, I know food can be a big barrier during the winter season - "It's cold and all I want is something hot to eat." Swap your salad for steamed fresh veggies and there you have it, a warm meal. If your food isn't interesting to you, you will get bored of it and eventually fall off track with your eating. Find some warm-hearted meal ideas using your Vision Virtual Trainer to spice up your food choices.

There really is no excuse! Prepare, have a plan B, keep your goals front-of-mind and keep it interesting.
