Andrew has been training with us at Vision Personal Training Brighton for over 7 years and if you have read his previous success story you would know he has achieved some pretty huge goals in his time with us. That trend has continued and in order to do him justice we thought we would write a further success story to update his accomplishments!
Andrew joined Vision as a father of 3 with a busy corporate job that required overseas and interstate travel on a fairly regular basis. Whilst exercise was always a part of his life, since 2011 he has taken this to a whole new level. Andrew has now completed 13 Ironman events over a 6-year time frame including 4 Ironman's in 2017 alone!
For those who are unaware an Ironman is a 3.8km swim, 180km ride and a 42.2km run (full marathon). This is no mean feat and to complete 1 in a lifetime would be an extraordinary achievement!
"Vision Personal Training is my base/foundation of exercise each week, I complete 3 weight training sessions per week and never miss a session if I am in Melbourne. Knowing someone is waiting for me keeps me accountable and gets me to the Studio. Over the past 2 years I have completed Ironman events off no real training other than my Personal Training, Run Club and the base fitness I have built up after training for years. I often refer to the quote 'Most people fail mentally before they ever begin physically' and I strongly believe that an Ironman is a stronger mental effort than a physical one."
Recently Andrew entered the Ironman Legacy Program (completing 12 Ironman events) and qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in October 2019. Over the next 12 months Andrew is booked in for Ironman NZ (March), Ironman Cairns (June) and Ironman Hawaii (October). Not a bad set of goals?
Congratulations Andrew on all you have achieved! We can't wait to see you in action again next year!
