You have all been told "You have to look after yourself if you are going to look after anyone else effectively", and while this is true so many people continue to neglect it. I am optimistic that you read something in this magazine that causes you to do something for you. With that in mind, I'm going to do something for me!
I have been in the Fitness Industry since 1997, that's almost 20 years (I don't feel or look that old) 5 years ago I came across Vision Personal Training the Franchise, I was so impressed by the systems that make it so much easier for clients to get results that I got involved, a year later I bought my own franchise, Bundall. It is amazing how well set up the business is at helping people who "HATE" the gym to go from unfit and unhealthy to the best shape of their life and with such amazing consistency. I have always been a 'nerd' when it comes to anatomy, physiology and nutrition but this was an approach that changed everything! I had to get involved!
Where most people go wrong when starting a program with or without a trainer, they try to count calories or neglect to do anything about their food and struggle with results or worse, they get results and stack them back on just as fast if not faster! Let me explain the fundamental flaw with the calorie deficit theory. In essence most 'diets' or eating programs utilise the theory of putting less calories in, burning more calories and losing weight. Calories in Vs Calories out. But the maths doesn't work out… here's why:
Measuring calories in is impossible! The labels on food and the website that you got the numbers from that you are using has been proven to be out by up to 10%. You might ask 10% which side? High or low? Good question…. it could be either. Meaning your estimate is off already. From there what is impossible to calculate is how many of those calories you absorb. That is dictated by your hormonal environment and your gut bacteria. Then how many of those calories do you use vs how many do you store? That also is almost impossible to calculate. Then how many calories to you burn? Unless you have been locked in a sealed chamber for 48hrs + and had everything you eat, drink, pee and poop measured along with the oxygen you are working off, a guess that according to one researcher for him was out by 20% from his own calculations. So as you can see, even bothering to count them is futile! There has to be a better way! There is. That is what Vision Personal Training does so well! (I wish I had the space to explain it, I don't. But it isn't even our way of managing client's food and exercise that makes Vision Personal Training amazing… It is so much more than that. Until this year I didn't really get it, but now I do. What makes Vision Personal Training so amazing is the people we have here. The clients we have are an amazing bunch. So supportive with each other, super friendly. Many of them have even started going on holidays with each other, like walking the Milford sound last year. They had never met before Vision! It really feels like family… ask anyone that has been here.
The biggest driver of that community however, is my AMAZING trainers! I really do have an incredible team. I know lots of places say it. I can prove it! Not only do they ALL spend a minimum of 3 hours a week, every week working on improving their craft, they learn, read and study every week. I demand it. They constantly assess and evaluate their performance every week and we compare and work with each other on stats like who is getting the most clients results this week and why! I know the individual, if you are on track to reach the goal you set with us or if you have fallen behind! I know which trainers have more clients on track than others. They all know and work at it. We have also won a bunch of National awards. National Personal Trainer of the Year 2014, Queensland Personal Trainer of the Year 2015, First Female Master Trainer, 2nd Female Master Trainer, 2 Trainers leave to manage a studio and one open their own Vision Studios in Sydney and Melbourne, National Weight Loss Challenge Winner 2015.
