I was never about getting fit; it just wasn't on my radar and my diet was anything fizzy (soft or alcoholic) and chocolate. It has been a long time since I cared about what people thought about me and I was happy with what I looked like so I didn't think I needed to change things. My body, my choices. My partner Ray joined Vision in Sydney and loved it, and he was really happy with how it was changing his view on food, his body and seeing the confidence it gave him, it planted a seed, but I still wasn't ready.
A move to Melbourne soon changed that. I started doing walk club with Vision Camberwell, and the culture they had within the studio made me think... I want to be part of this, so I messaged Leigh-Ann and said sign me up! I was paired with Nick as my Trainer and together we set some weight and fitness goals. We talked about food and planning what I was eating was relatively easy, the fitness part on the other hand not so much. I hadn't done anything physical since I was in school so I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but it all started with walking then picking up the pace a bit and before I knew it, I was running.
Weight started to drop off, (no one ever told me I had 4 chins before), it took some work but for whatever reason I was loving it, I had become part of this amazing culture who were full of encouragement and praise. They cheered when I hit my goals. I had lost 11kg in my first 9 weeks and Vision became my fitness family.
With Nick's support I have lost 17 kilos, my bio age is 38 (I'm actually 44 yrs.), I decreased my visceral fat score from 12 to 6, and significantly decreased my blood pressure to a much healthier range. I have completed a 10k at the Melbourne Marathon Festival and I am the fittest I have ever been.
So, my goals are to maintain what I have achieved so far, keep up with the running and do a half marathon.....all very achievable.
