Lost 17% Body Fat and ran 15km*

I was on a walk with my second child who was 3 months old when I saw a brochure for the Vision Camberwell studio at my local café. I'm not normally one to pick these things up, but I was curious. I had just had my second baby and the weight was harder to shift this time around. At the time I wasn't sure why, but I just knew that what I was doing wasn't working and something had to change. I was returning to work in two months and I wanted to lose the baby weight before I started back so I made the call, drove to the studio and it was the best decision I have made.

Leigh-Ann answered and sent down Phil.  He ran across the street and helped me up the stairs with my baby and we sat down to chat and he was keen to understand my goals. I told him I knew the basics of weight loss, energy in, energy out but this time I was finding it difficult to lose the weight.  I've always been conscious about what I've eaten, avoided the 'bad stuff', and ate the 'healthier things'. I'd never been much of an exerciser, but I was keen to start and I told him that I needed someone to help me to commit.

Phil asked me to record my food over the weekend and I quickly discovered I was not getting nearly enough protein and even though I was choosing healthy options I was consuming far too many calories from carbs and fats. So together we created a plan. An individual plan of food and exercise. It seemed easy, and I was ready for the challenge. In such a short time I was not only back to my pre-baby body, but my pre-wedding one! Every week the weight fell off me, I just followed Phil's advice and it was so easy, it felt like I was cheating. With the simple instructions, slight adjustments to my nutrition and a mixture of low-intensity cardio and two weights sessions a week, I dropped all the weight I had in mind plus more. I was now eating better, and I'd discovered a love for weight training (and dare I say it, cardio!). It really was easy, so easy I'd wish I'd made the discovery earlier.

My weight loss goals stopped there and now I continue to train and implement nutrition habits to continue to improve my body composition, improving muscle and my fitness levels. I have more muscle and shape to my body and even though I'm leaner than before I'm eating more food than I did before I started. It's now part of my lifestyle, and I won't look back. When I started I said I couldn't run, had never run more than 1km since I was in school. I recently ran 15km and it's only been made possible by the awesome, supportive community at Vision Camberwell. It's been a life changing experience and I'm so thankful I made that first call.
