In this article I want to share with you the thing I believe is the most important piece of knowledge to consider whenever starting a body/health transformation. It's not the nutrition and it's not the tough workout routine. It is the mindset and mental approach required to achieve the desired results.

Realisation

Whenever I sit down with a new client, I listen to their goals to determine what they need from me and what time frame they would ideally like to achieve this in. I then give them a realistic expectation of what would be required by them to achieve their goals. Some clients are excited by this, others it frightened. The excited clients are the ones ready to change, having reached end point with being the way they are. They are the clients who are ready to break away from their old self, ready to stay on their own and away from their peers at lunch if it means they're eating what they need to succeed, ready to leave their partner in bed at 6am to make a gym session, and ready to change the habits that have held them back from being happy with themselves for so long. Once they accept that it's time to shift to a different lifestyle, they find a more appropriate circle of friends who encourage them to share the same outlook.

The Ones That Commit Are the Ones That Maintain

The people who commit to change are the ones that block out everything that goes on around them. That's not to say they stop going to work, or that they don't text their girlfriend ever again, but they block out all the negative things they know that will slow them down. They make their goal their number one priority and in doing so they give themselves the best chance to succeed. The ones that only commit half-heartedly or only commit for a short period are the ones that end up retreating back to their old ways. They get dragged down by the same people, they get tempted by the same foods and they follow the same workout routine mistakenly thinking one day everything will just fall into place and they'll be happy.

Influencing Others

There is an amazing feeling of achievement in improving your life. For some it's losing 10 kilos or gaining 10 kilos and for others it can be due to performing better at work by living a healthy and active lifestyle. Then there's the time that because of your actions, because of your decision to change your life for the better, you find that someone else has been inspired by you and found the motivation to do something about their own situation. It is inevitable that you will have days when your motivation will slow, but being able to inspire others will soon speed it up again.

If you are the person reading this who needs to change their mindset, be aware that it's not as simple as looking at a couple of motivational Instagram pictures. You have to have a clear idea of what you want to change, why you want to change and how those changes will affect you once you have achieved them. Having worked this out, your path to your chosen goal becomes a lot clearer and any problems along the way are easier to overcome.

I wish you the best of luck in achieving your goals.
