Did you know a healthy gut will help you burn more fat?

Most bacteria are commonly known for causing diseases and other illnesses, but our stomach is also home to trillions of bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Some of those being crucial for our immune system, heart, and weight!

A healthy gut will mean you have a strong stomach lining, and having bad gut health will result in a weak stomach lining.

A strong stomach lining takes more energy to digest food! Bad gut health can cause food and nutrients to slip through the gaps in the stomach lining and be digested without any extra energy.


  1. Eat a wide range of plant based foods

The unprocessed foods will help to keep the bacteria in your stomach happy and healthy, keeping a strong stomach lining! Some great ideas are spinach, broccoli, seeds and other leafy greens.


  1. Eat more fibre

The bacteria in your stomach loves to feast on fibre, extracting the energy, nutrients and vitamins to help with a healthy gut! Good examples of foods would be lentils, beans, berries and wholemeal breads.


  1. Avoid highly processed foods

It can damage your stomach lining causing bacteria to enter your bloodstream and cause inflammation. These foods are your refined carbohydrates. Consisting of pasta, pastries, some cereals, cookies, cakes, sugary soft drinks


  1. Eat probiotic and fermented foods

Will help with the growth of healthy bacteria in the stomach and help with immune function. Ex: kombucha, sauerkraut, yogurt, kimchi and tempeh.


  1. Eating anti-inflammatory foods

Foods like berries, tomato's, apples, oranges, pomegranates are full of antioxidants and help reduce inflammation.
