Many people believe that in order to lose weight, you need to eat less food. This statement is true and false at the same time as yes, if you eat less you will lose 'weight' but it will mainly be through muscle mass, water, and be leaked of many vitamins and minerals, therefore be a much less effective machine. This is where a lot of people go wrong and become thin, bony and look sickly - often having comments made about them needing to go and have a hamburger! Instead, a healthier and more appealing option is to have 5-6 small meals per day in order to get your metabolism firing which when done on a regular basis can create a fat burning machine!

Think of your body as a campfire, if you keep throwing kindling, small sticks and branches on the fire, you will find a nice big flame (this is your energy levels) and you'll soon need to find some more to fuel for the fire (bodies way of readily utilizing its fuel source because it know it will get more in 2-3 hours!). Whereas if you were to throw a single big log, the flame would be small and take hours and hours to burn through (similar to your body not wanting to burn through all of it's fuel in 2-3 hours because it knows there are 7 hours to get through between lunch and dinner!)

Did you know that the human body struggles to absorb all of the macronutrients and micronutrients from a meal if it's too large? Eating frequent, small meals will give your body the opportunity to fully utilize and absorb them!

Not to mention that eating can be pleasurable so why wouldn't you want to do more of it throughout your day? It doesn't take sweat, exhaustion, bringing a change of clothes to the gym, showering and stretching as an exercise session would. For the first few days of increased meal frequency you may feel very full, but it takes time to adjust and when your body tells you to eat every few hours, you will know your metabolism is firing!
