Meet Justine Richardson - mother, works full time and now a half marathon runner! Justine's a regular in the studio but also a stickler for detail. She simply 'followed the system' and now she's stronger and healthier than ever. See what she has to say about her new found lifestyle:
What was the state of your health and fitness when you started and what effect was this having on your life?
When I first started Vision I was a size 14 and weighed 76kgs, having steadily put on weight over the couple of years before that. I was noticing how chubby I was when I walked past shop windows and it didn't make me feel good. Clothes were all getting tighter and nothing looked great. Shopping reduced to handbags and shoes as clothes looked crap!!
I had lost motivation to continue with my previous boxing classes for some reason, much as I loved the crowd I was doing it with. I did the bay run fairly regularly but it took me 46 minutes. Then I broke my finger and realised that boxing would be out of the question for a while! That was the catalyst for getting off my backside and so I walked around the corner to Vision and met Alex.
What did you find was the most useful tool at Vision?
My main issue was motivation. So, the first useful tool was that first meeting Alex and him telling me confidently that I would be 60kg and that Kris was the man for the job!! I thought that was ridiculous but he seemed pretty convinced. I would have been happy with half of that. I now weigh 60.4kg. For ages, I just couldn't shake the last 1kg to 60kg, but Kris was persistent and I got there!
The next thing was food. I am incredibly determined and focused person so if you set me a course, I'll do it. I ate healthily before Vision but the education Kris gave me on when to eat which macros radically changed by eating habits. The discipline on the food diary suits my disciplined personality.
Last and certainly not least is the biggest tool (snigger) of all, Kris Marin! His complete commitment to my goals and re-shaping my body. He pushes me harder and won't let me give up no matter how hard I'm finding the sessions. He is awesome and I couldn't have done this without him.
What impact has your new health and fitness had on your new life?
I now find myself in situations where I regularly get complements from my friends, colleagues and even my clients. Female colleagues comment too - and that's praise indeed as you know we women set the bar pretty high for ourselves.
I was in Hugo Boss the other buying a dress and the woman told me that I'm a perfect Hugo Boss 36! I would never have walked in the shop at my previous size. I had a work medical and was off the scale in terms of improvements! I ran the bay in 36 mins - 10 minutes off my old time after only 6 months at Vision.
It's given me a confidence boost, which feels good. I feel strong and healthy and aware of the impact what I eat and do has on my body, both inside and out.
If you were to recommend Vision Personal Training Drummoyne to your friends, what would you say?
Get into it! Results are fast if you follow the program. The trainers are great - they engage well with everyone and it's a real community feel. Do the classes - they mix it up and you meet great people. I can't believe it took so long to go myself.
