Looking back at my before photo, at the time I really didn't think I was fat, but I was uncomfortable enough to know that I didn't like my body and that I needed to make a change. I had tried many diets beforehand, but as with all diets, the weight creeps back on. I was always so proud when I had lost weight but then terribly embarrassed when I regained it. It was a vicious cycle that I'm sure many people fall into, even if they attend a gym.
I have always been a fairly active person and exercise has been a part of my life for a very long time. I used to walk past the Gladesville Vision Studio every morning and would see people in there in a group class. After weeks of watching, I took the next step and contacted the owner. I joined in June 2014. I remember early on, struggling to keep up with everyone in the group classes, but it didn't matter. My diet and exercise are my lifestyle now, and I have managed to lose the weight and keep it off for over 2 years. I can hardly believe that the skinny woman in the after photos is me. I am proud and amazed with the progress I have made and I believe that if I can do it, anyone can.
I still have a sweet tooth and love my treats, but having recently taken up running, I have managed to keep the weight off and build on my muscle tone with three weight sessions a week. Not only have I changed my life but I have also made new friends and we often get together for a meal or for a work out. I love my life now and no longer shy away from the camera.
