Before I joined Vision, I saw myself as a fat person at 105 kg. Although I coached a junior basketball team, mentally I felt like a bit of a loser as I wasn't doing any exercise myself, instead spending most of my days playing computer games. My Vision journey has been very positive, even through my recovery from a wrist injury which was managed very well by Paolo, my Personal Trainer. Even with COVID-19 lockdown being imposed, I wasn't going to let that stop me from embodying the identity of a fit person that I wanted to be - Paolo, my PT, and I would train at the local park improving on my cardio fitness, and even built muscle mass with resistance training. I used to be that person who hated cardio and could never see myself running a full lap around the football oval. But Paolo kept encouraging me to push past these mental barriers, and now I can run the lap in under 3 minutes! I still like playing computer games, but now I train at least four days a week. So far, I've lost 10 kg and the doctor says I have now reduced my liver fat to normal levels and no longer need to take medication that I used to take twice daily. More importantly, thanks to the coaching from the trainers and the support from the Vision community, staying fit and healthy is becoming less of an effort and more of a lifestyle - it's just who I am now!
