1. What was the state of your health and fitness when you started and what affect was this having on your life?

The state of my health and fitness when I started Vision just over a year ago, was at an all-time low. I was returning to training after 10 months recovery for a fractured sacrum. I was unable to exercise at all in those 10 months and had not been paying attention to nutrition. As a result, I was the most unfit and the heaviest I had ever been. This had a significant effect on my confidence, sport performance and everyday energy levels.

2. What did you find was the most useful tool at Vision?

The most useful part of Vision for me, has been having a personal trainer. Having a trainer who is genuinely invested in my progress and helping me achieve my goals has been of considerable assistance to me. My trainer has kept me accountable; makes every session fun, and; has allowed me to always feel incredibly supported and believed in. To have someone guide you through the fitness and health 'process' which can often be difficult to navigate alone, has been the reason I have been able to achieve my goals and really enjoy the process! 

3. What impact has your new health and fitness had on your new life?

My new health and fitness has had a significant impact on my life. I have gone from being someone who could not run around the block, to now training for my first half-marathon. This has equipped me with the confidence to believe in myself when setting further fitness and health goals. A new sense of health and fitness has allowed me to become passionate about fitness and running, in particular.

Further, this has aided me in getting into the Schoolgirl IV and selected for Nationals for rowing, which has been a goal of mine for years. To achieve this was very rewarding and has encouraged me to want to continue to pursue rowing and fitness after school.

In general, I feel far more confident in my day-to-day life as a result of improving my health and achieving a goal that I never thought was attainable. I now have the confidence to wear clothes I had never previously been able to wear. I feel very grateful to be a part of the Vision family. 

4. What was one of the most memorable moments of your fitness journey?

One of the most memorable moments of my fitness journey, would have to be my goals session at the start of the year. I had been training hard during the Christmas break with my trainer, and with rowing, and using the 'My Vision' meal diary app. In that goals session, I saw a breakthrough in results and a standard of health and fitness that I had never achieved before. To see those results reinforced that every part of the process had been worthwhile, and that I was capable of getting where I wanted to be with hard work and the support of my trainer.

I think what made this very memorable to me, was that the goals session validated the work I had been putting in and reinforced to me that I wanted to continue to set further goals to experience that sense of reward again. I had gotten into the mindset before joining Vision of telling myself that I would never be able to get to that standard of health and fitness. I had told myself I 'could not run'. To see those results proved otherwise and was incredibly exciting to me. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to continue with my health and fitness journey.

5. If you were to recommend Vision Personal Training Lindfield to your friends, what would you say?

I would not be able to recommend Vision enough! It's very easy to get lost in what you should be doing with health and fitness given that we are saturated by diet culture, fads and big gyms that often anonymise clients and allow people to 'slip through the system'. This is what separates Vision. The culture of Vision Personal Training Lindfield ensures that every client is always seen, valued and supported. This means that at no point, do you feel uncertain of what you should be doing in order to get where you want to be, or that you are alone in getting there. The sense of community is unparalleled and is essential in making going to the gym enjoyable and worthwhile. The trainers and other clients are important in holding you accountable and reversing the mindset of going to the gym as being 'chore', instead, making it something you look forward to, and a part of your life you come to really value.

Going to Vision has allowed me to make and maintain changes which have had significant impacts across many aspects of my life. I would tell anyone who wants to achieve their health and fitness goals and get involved in a really unique and caring community of people, to definitely get involved!
