10 months ago I would never have believed that I could feel the way I do now. Grossly overweight, unable to walk up a hill, climb a set of stairs or take out the garbage without panting for breath. Since joining Vision I've lost almost a third of my body weight and feel more energetic and "alive" than I have for as long as I can remember.
The alarm bells started ringing a number of years ago when during a doctor's visit I was told that my cholesterol was "up", my blood pressure was "elevated", I was a real candidate for diabetes and I needed to lose weight. It scared me. Things suddenly got very real and so I did what anybody would do and, full of enthusiasm, joined the local gym the next day. Things went well for the first week or so but within a month this had all stopped. The same scenario played itself out again a couple of years later after another doctor's visit, my blood pressure medication was being doubled and another, sterner, warning given from my doctor. This time at least, I made it at the local gym a full three months before quietly quitting once again.
Over the 2012 Christmas break I enjoyed a family holiday with a family friend and her family. She's a Vision PT and after a long chat on the beach one day I knew what I needed to do. I realised that, based on my less than successful attempts in the past, that I'd need some help this time if I wanted to succeed as I was more determined than ever. After returning from holidays I joined my local Vision studio that same week and haven't looked back since. Like so many others, it's been a long and bumpy road to get here but with the help and support of Adam and the team at Vision, I'm finally achieving my health and fitness goals.
