Don't get me wrong, I can definitely understand how hard it can be to fit a workout into your daily routine and schedule. Between work, family and other commitments it can be tough to take that time out for yourself...but I'm sure we can all agree that when we do workout, we want it to be the best!

However there are definitely going to be those sessions where we just know we haven't done our best, or that we aren't feeling the greatest. Here are my top tips on how you can improve your workouts.

Playing Music

This seriously has to be my number one! I make sure that I always have my headphones ready with me to use. Working out in silence is seriously hard and I take my hat off to you if you can actually do it. I find it's really important to choose music that is upbeat and music that is going to make you work hard. Certain songs help me to feel on top of the world as well as to help me bust out an extra rep or two!

Watch your Form

Quality over quantity! When you exercise, it's so important that you maintain good form throughout. Exercises that are rushed and performed without good form are not even worth doing. Completing exercises slowly and correctly, I can assure you will get you better results…and you will be less likely to injure yourself too. Sometimes it can be hard to know if you are performing the exercise correctly or not. If you are unsure, ask gym staff or even google it! There is no shame in asking for help.

Always Warm Up

There are so many people who skip this step, and I will be the first to admit that I can definitely get slack. A proper warm up is going to effectively wake your muscles up and prepare them for the session ahead. This is going to give you a much more efficient workout, and this goes for any type of exercise. I can definitely say that creating specific warm ups for my training has by far improved my workouts and has allowed for me to improve my strength and form dramatically.

Next time you exercise try these tips and make the most of your workout. Remember it's not the length of time you exercise, but the amount of effort you put in.
