BRING YOUR A GAME
In my time at Vision I have seen many clients achieve really good results and be able to maintain their new shape. Yet there are other clients seem to battle with taking control of their weight and keeping it off long term. What makes us different? Is it genetics, body type or do they do more cardio than you?
The bottom line comes down to having a strong reason WHY and being consistent with your food and training. Sound simple right? The reality is that we are all working longer hours, every day is jam packed with actives especially if you have kids. You might ask, how can I stay consistent, how can I stay on track, what is the secret to not getting distracted.
There are 4 rules you must follow to keep on task and this can apply for all aspect of life not just weight loss.
RULE NO 1: YOU MUST TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR ONE
In everyday life there are so many distractions our minds are constantly under siege. We always have the best intention but sometimes we get caught in the hustle and bustle and lose our focus. Think of this scenario, you are walking at night, its pitch black and there are no street lights, the only thing you have to show you the way is a torch. The torch can only shine on one spot at a time. You can't shine it too far up the road because you might fall. You literally have to shine it just one step ahead. Your focus is purely there and then in the present, not too far in front and not on multiple spots. Achieving your goal is a very similar process.
RULE NO 2: STOP, SEE AND SHIFT
There is an acronym you can follow to help you get back on track when you lose focus. You have 5 seconds from when a though comes to mind to go and execute.
STOP, SEE & SHIFT
Stop digging yourself into a deeper hole, it's hard enough why make it harder for yourself.
Take a deep breath.
Observe, right here and right now what is going on and what can you do to change it.
Progress with action.
Shift your focus and shift your physical state. The best way to change your emotional and physical state is to get moving. Remember energy in motion equals emotion.
RULE NO 3: BRING YOUR A GAME
Shift your focus onto what you can control. What are you good at? What are your strengths? If you were applying for a job what assets could you rely on to show case yourself. Think about a time in your life when the pressure was on and you had a deadline to meet. Were you disciplined? Were you consistent? Did you have self-belief. Everyone has an "A GAME" sometimes we just don't realise it's there.
RULE NO 4: GET OUT OF YOUR B
This refers to all the things that are out of your control. The type of things that take up space in your mind. Now it doesn't have to all be thoughts it could even be the words that you use to describe yourself or a situation. We are so quick to put ourselves down "I'm not smart enough to understand this" "I'm too lazy to do anything about it" "The odds are against me" yet at no stage do we ever ask ourselves HOW can I better understand this or what can I do to change this today, the odds may be against me but if I tackle one thing at a time the tables will turn eventually.
