My exercise regime was walking a couple of times a week and playing golf every Sunday.  I believed that was quite active and was just enough for me.  If I really felt adventurous, I'd turn one of the walking sessions into a jog/walk session but that would be about it.  Nothing too strenuous but it's all about making an effort right!

My eating habits were basic - whatever was convenient or quick to put together.  This included fast food (i.e. McDonalds, KFC, takeaways, bistro meals - I'm sure you get the gist of it) and while at work cafĂ©, food court or vending machine options and of course, I couldn't have these meals without 'washing it all down' with a soft drink (Sunkist Orange or Fanta would be the preference).  This would be the routine four or five times per week - easy!

One day I was scrolling through my Facebook Newsfeed (as we do) and noticed that my friend was posting pictures of Vision Personal Training.  At first, it was a shrug of the shoulders thinking 'awwww yep' (aka whatever) and keep scrolling but she would just keep on posting about Vision.  Sometimes she'd leave a comment but most of the time, it was just a picture.  I needed to know (not just find out but know) what all the fuss was about and thought maybe the time was right to make some changes.  So, I called Vision Personal Training Parramatta and scheduled a meeting with Luis - the new owner.  After my initial meeting with Luis, it felt like hard work and effort "do I really want to put myself through that"?  I had to do something - my weight and life were getting out of control.  So, I started going to group sessions but I would do a couple one week and then a couple another week ...... there was no consistency and it was no wonder that I felt I was always at 'square one'.  I then found myself in a better 'head space' and started going to sessions every week and that was the beginning of what is an amazing journey.

I have only been a part of the Vision Family for a very short period but my life and lifestyle has changed enormously.  I am now achieving things with Vision that I thought would be impossible for me.  I'm the first to admit that I'm a lousy runner but my 'walking a couple of times a week' has turned into 'running a couple of times a week', I also do Run Club twice a week with Vision.  If two months ago someone said to me 'Cardio, strength sessions and a food diary will be part of your day', my reply would've been 'You're outta your mind' but they are now part of my day. Nutrition has never, ever been a strength of mine.  Carbs - what's carbs.  Protein - awwww chicken.  Fats - yep I've got heaps of that.  The Nutrition Seminar I attended, helped me understand the difference between the three, and also the importance of having all three in my meals.  So that was the easy part but how do I know that I'm having enough or too much of either?  That's where VVT is the bomb - I can monitor my carbs, protein and fat intake to boost my metabolism and help with weight loss.

With all of that said, my life and lifestyle have massively changed, I go to Vision six days per week, either for group sessions, Personal Training or sometimes both.  My fitness level has increased and I will be attempting my first 10km run, since joining Vision in July, the goal is to run the full 10km.  My golf has improved, I now compete against the men and can show them a thing or two.  I reckon the best thing though is that I have started to influence others to make nutritional changes and start exercising for a healthy lifestyle.

I will continue on my journey with Vision Personal Training Parramatta and set new challenges as I go along (for both weight loss and strength).  I would like to reach my ultimate goal of losing 35kgs from my starting weight.  I would also like to continue to influence and support others as they make changes towards a healthier and happier lifestyle.
