My body has completely changed, thanks to my Trainer*

  • Tell me about your life before Vision?

I had gone through enormous amounts of change throughout 2016. After living in Canberra for 2.5 years for work, I moved back to Melbourne and undertook a three month 'recovery' holiday. I was completely burnt out. Due to my job and other life experiences, I had slowly started to gain weight, and before I knew it, I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life. My self esteem was low, I felt out of control, and worst of all, I didn't really know how to fix it.

 

  • What results have you achieved?

I joined vision in February 2017 on the recommendation of my friend, who had lost 10 kilos on the nine week challenge. Since then, I have lost almost 13kgs and feel the best I have felt in a long time. I can lift heavy weights, I can run around the tennis court for an hour, I have muscle definition! My body has completely changed thanks to nutritional education, consistent workouts and support from my Trainer.   

 

  • How has life changed for you?

I am so much happier. From a variety of perspectives, my life is better. I have more energy and I truly believe that this program, including the regular workouts, has increased my ability to deal with stress -  100 per cent.

I fit back into my wardrobe and now some of those are too big (I think this is a universal high for anyone!).   

 

  • What is your favourite thing about training at Vision?

The support. Vision is not just a 'gym'. It's a holistic program designed to support and motivate you in a way that guarantees results. It's a complete system: nutrition, training and emotional support. It's also a non-threatening environment, people are friendly and ALL the Trainers are absolutely lovely, with best interests at heart. It was also refreshing to discover you can get excellent results from two 30 minute weight sessions a week (complemented with your own cardio). This is compared with previous experiences with Personal Trainers, where they flog you for 60 minutes, destroy your motivation and couldn't care less about you between sessions. At Vision, your Trainer checks in with you throughout the week and genuinely cares.     

 

  • What are some defining moments during your journey?

Finally hitting a 10kg weight loss. This was a huge moment for me as it was my goal from the beginning - but it took me a lot longer than I expected. In fact, it took me about 6 months. It was slow and steady, and what I've learnt is taking it off slowly means you keep it off. 

I was also still living my life, but implementing the nutritional education Vision is famous for. There were times I would go up a little bit, plateau etc. but I would come back to my Trainer, we would regroup and keep going -  slowly, but surely, the graph kept going down. 

 

  • What advice would you give someone in a similar situation to where you were, and thinking about making a change?

I would say do it, do it, do it. The friend who recommended me, and I often say it's the best thing we've ever done. It's a supportive, non-threatening environment that focuses on results. You learn so much from the program, understand what different food and alcohol does to your body, how to train better. I loved, and still do, hearing about this stuff.

I know with certainty, I wouldn't have been able to do this on my own. Now, I feel empowered regarding my own health and fitness.
