I went from smoking 2 packs a day to running ultra marathons*



Before joining Vision, I was depressed about how I looked and felt. I was a 2-pack a day smoker, living on McDonalds, KFC and Donut King, looking back no wonder I was so unhappy. 

I knew I needed help so I booked an initial consultation and when I arrived I wasn't sure if I could make it up the flight of stairs to the studio let alone through an actual personal training session. My first day at Vision was confronting because I measured in at 32% body fat and I thought to myself, "how the hell did I let myself slip to this point?".

But once I joined, I promised to give complete commitment for 6 months and follow the plans given to me by my trainer. My nutrition was overhauled, I learned a new way to eat and I started physical exercise. Within 13 weeks, I had lost 13% body fat, burned 30cm off my measurements and I was able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. 

Within 6 months, I had run a Half Marathon and eventually I gave up smoking. I was feeling incredible.

The more I ran, the better I felt. 

I have now completed 46 marathons, 57 ultra marathons and 8 one-hundred kilometre races. I'm almost halfway to achieving my all-time bucket list lifelong ambition of running 100 marathons. 

Running has opened up a whole new world to me. It's wonderful to be part of such a healthy community and many opportunities have presented themselves. After wearing and loving them for years, I was chosen as an ambassador for Skirt Sports Australia and I was lucky enough to grace the cover of the August edition of Women's Running Magazine. These things just would not have happened to me if i had kept on smoking and eating junk.

I don't think I do anything special, I just do what it takes to get to my goal. All you have to do is believe in yourself. The culture at Vision helped me build on that self-belief and I am forever grateful. I hope that in some small way I can pass that belief on to other people just starting out, who want to live happy, healthy lives as well.
