So how many times have you failed in life and been disheartened by it? You experience that horrible feeling when the outcome you want doesn't happen and you believe you're only getting further away from your goal. The next thing you know, you completely give up and stop trying, you tell yourself, "What's the point?!"

Well, the point ultimately boils down to how determined and persistent you are.

It took Thomas Edison thousands of attempts before finding a filament that would stay alight for 13.5 hours, the start of the electric light bulb that we all know and use daily today. When asked, "Isn't it a shame that with the tremendous amount of work you have done you haven't been able to get any results?"

Edison's reply was, "Results! Why, man, I have gotten lots of results!  I know several thousand things that won't work!'"

It was Edison's determination, persistence and learning from his failures that got him the result he sought after.

When it comes to health and fitness, too many times do people give up before they've even truly started their journey. The start of the process is all guns blazing, tracking food every day, turning up to their PT sessions and group training only to lose 0.5kg on the scales. The immediate reaction to that is, "Is that it?! But I've done everything!"

Eventually, things all of a sudden get "too hard" to commit to so effort levels drop off, consistency decreases, the scales don't budge and end up going the other direction to the desired outcome. Ultimately, every attempt becomes a failure and the end goal becomes too distant and impossible to achieve.

Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings.

The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Persistent work will yield results and success: achieving your sought after goal.
