Cardiovascular & resistance training*

Monday, 5 February 2018, By Dan Roitman

Both cardiovascular and resistance training are necessary to improve fitness and strength. The most important factor with both types of training, is to find a training load that is balanced and tailored to your personal goals. This will ensure that you will be able to complete all the training while not feeling overwhelmed.

Cardiovascular training will improve the strength and efficiency of your heart, allowing it to function at a lower stress level to obtain the same output. This reduces stress levels around the body, making us feel more relaxed. Consistent training could potentially reduce blood pressure levels as well. Cardiovascular training will allow us to push ourselves further so we can perform at a higher intensity.

Resistance training is one of the best ways to improve muscle mass and strength. Consistently doing resistance training will allow the muscles to become denser over time, making them more efficient at completing the same exercises. As the exercises get easier, we increase the resistance to continue this cycle. An increase in both strength and fitness will be noticeable after around 3 weeks of consistently training, alongside a food plan that is tailored personally for you.

Find the right balance of cardio and resistance training with your Trainer based on where your fitness and strength levels are now, where you want them to be and what you can personally commit to. This will allow for the most direct path to achieving your goals.
