"Being made redundant and a break to England led to additional weight gain as eating was the only way to respond to my anxiety and career uncertainty. I lost all motivation, made repeated excuses about not going to gym, was tired, lethargic, out of breathe and was on a hunger path for more food eating mostly chocolate.
It took me three weeks to muster up the courage and I was initially worried that my age (64) would be a stumbling block to further development. Since joining I have lost 23kg, increased my self-esteem and confidence, am proud of what I see in the mirror, completed a 10km run, Eureka Climb, and my first Triathlon. It was a real sentiment for me as I had always dreamt of doing a Triathlon. I can walk down the street with pride that I have achieved the goals that I thought would be impossible to achieve for a person my age."
